Even though she's lived in Virginia for many years, Ally Hill's Cajun roots shine through in her paintings. Born in Jennings, Louisiana - she enjoyed childhood visits with family back home during summer months. Recalling that she was always drawing from a very young age, she says that her first idea to begin painting was when she saw the large murals decorating the buildings in downtown Jennings. It was a "spark" for the young artist - creating her love for painting.
Acrylic is her preferred medium - and with the support of her husband, Michael, she has found encouragement to develop her own unique, self-taught artistic style. She finds the bold and vibrant acrylics allow her to explore the connection between nature and humanity. Now living in Mechanicsville, Virginia, Ally spends her days painting, gardening, and homeschooling her three young daughters. She believes that art, and the act of creation, links mankind to the great Creator.
